WARM UPS!

SHOW AND TELL:
Every soldier carries a backback filled with the tools that fit their skills or special tasks, unique to them. In the same way, God gives every one of his followers unique gifts and skills
THE MAIN POINT OF OUR LESSON:
God Has Equipped Everyone with a Special Skill Set.
READ: Romans 12:6-8
God made us all different. We all have different gifts and abilities, and we all enjoy different kinds of gifts. There are no better or worse gifts and no right and wrong gifts, just different. So we’re going to play a kind of game. Let’s pretend that different animals represent, or remind us of, different types of people.
Encourage your kid(s) to think about which BEST describes them. Explain that often we’ll think that two or three describe us, but likely one of them will describe us the BEST:
THE LION: Likes to be in charge and lead.
THE BEAVER: Likes to plan and help others.
THE OTTER: Likes to make sure everyone is having fun.
THE GOLDEN RETRIEVER: Likes to make sure everyone is getting along.
Here is a way to pray for your child depending on which animal they think best fits them:
FOR THE LIONS:
Dear God, help these kids to grow up to be strong and Godly leaders. Guide them as they prepare by growing in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man. Give them a love for you and your Word as they prepare for the leadership you will call them to when the time is right. In Jesus Name, Amen.
FOR THE BEAVERS:
Dear God, help these kids as they grow up to walk close with you and to learn the people skills they will need to get along and make strong and healthy friendships. Develop in them the skills they will need to serve you and an eye for what needs to be done and the initiative to step up and do what you show them without needing others to point it out. Make them natural servant leaders who will build your Kingdom and make a lasting impact wherever they go. In Jesus Name, Amen.
FOR THE OTTERS:
Dear God, thank you for the way you made these kids! They are full of enthusiasm and energy and can light up any room they enter. Give them the ability to see what others need – whether it’s a word from you, a well-timed laugh, or just some great fellowship. Grant them supernatural creativity and unlimited passion for anything they put their hands and hearts to. May their love for you be contagious wherever they are. In Jesus Name, Amen.
FOR THE GOLDEN RETRIEVERS:
Dear God, what a blessing these kids are going to be wherever life takes them. Grant them deep and sustaining friendships that will endure the test of time. May they always have an eye for what is needed in any situation that other leaders will overlook as they focus on vision or details or keeping things moving along. Make them the glue that holds friendships and teams together during challenging times so that everyone will get to see and enjoy the fruit of their hard work. In Jesus Name, Amen.
