This weeks Power Up:
SELF-CONTROL
READ the Story of Noah in Genesis Chapters 6-9
We face choices every day, just like Noah did. He didn’t even have a Bible. He just knew in his heart what was right and chose to do what was right. And God rewarded him.
There is an old saying that is worth repeating today, “What is popular is not always right, and what is right is not always popular.” Ask your kids what they think that means. You may need to break it in half and address each separately.
What is popular is not always right. There are a lot of things today that are popular to do or say that are not right or good and that displease God. (For instance, listening to certain types of music.) God is a just God and those who do wrong things will face consequences.
What is right is not always popular. Sometimes when you choose to do what is right – to be righteous – it won’t always be popular. You can get teased, misunderstood or even lose friends. But in the end, would you rather make God happy, or people? Or think about it this way: would you rather be on the boat or in the water?
As a family, say this together: “What is popular is not always right, and what is right is not always popular.”
Noah did what was right, even when no one around him did. What kind of Christian are YOU going to be?

GOD CONTROLLER:
REMOTE CONTROLLED BY GOD!
One of the most important buttons on your controller is the BUILD button. If you play Minecraft or Fortnight or one of many other games, you probably know the BUILD button well. The BUILD button leaves something behind even
after you move on. People can tell you were there because you built something. You left something behind. There are a lot of people who pass through life but never BUILD anything. They don’t help anyone, they don’t give, they don’t share Jesus, they don’t serve – they get by. Their goal is to just survive or win, but they miss out on the joy of BUILDING and better yet, the rewards of BUILDING.
READ Romans 2:7 He will give eternal life to everyone who has patiently done what is good (right) in the hope of receiving glory, honor, and life that lasts forever.
