Would they love and obey Him, or would they be selfish and disobey? We all know what happened. We have the same choice every day! Love and obey God, or be selfish and disobey. Which will you do?

This weeks Blockbuster Lesson:

GOD GIVES US CHOICE! God wants us to be free and able to make choices. We choose what outfit to wear, what to eat, what games to play or friends to make... but we also choose whether we will love and obey God or not. Why did God give us the ability to choose whether OR NOT to love Him? Because LOVE IS ONLY REAL IF IT IS A CHOICE. The reason it is special when someone loves you, whether it is a parent or a husband and wife - it is because they CHOSE to love that person. God knows some won't choose to love Him, but it is worth it for the many, like you and me, who do! God wants to have a REAL relationship with us, and the only way it can be real, is if it is a choice. It's why God made us! God has always been and always will be - and wanted to have real friendship with his Creation.

During this series, we are going to be learning 8 different Attributes of God – or 8 things that make God amazing and awesome and above anything we could ever be. If you can memorize all 8 Attributes of God, we’ll have a special prize for you at the end of the series!

This week we are learning that our RULER GOD is IMMORTAL – meaning He was never created and can never die.
Above are three pictures of water - but in three different forms. What happens if you make water really cold? Yes, it will turn to ice. What if you make it really hot? Yup, it will turn to steam. Water can be liquid, gas or solid, but it is still water. Did you know that you can’t make more water? And you can’t destroy water? All we can do is change water from one of its three forms into one of the other forms. God created all the water there is when He made the world. Scientists are still trying to figure out just how much water there IS on the planet, but it’s impossible to measure it as it’s always changing between liquid, steam and ice! But it is immortal.

It’s kind of like God – except God was never created! (Otherwise, whoever created Him would then be God!) And, while God also exists in three forms – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – He isn’t constantly changing between them. He is all three at the same time! We call that the Trinity – a three-person person. Is your mind blown yet? That’s what makes God so amazing. It’s also why, when God made people, He said, “Let’s make man in OUR image.” (Genesis 1:26) He was hinting in the very first chapter, even before Jesus came or we knew about the Holy Spirit, that He as God was more than meets the mind!
READ: Genesis 1:26-27
Then God said, “And now we will make human beings; they will be like us and resemble us. They will have power over the fish, the birds, and all animals, domestic and wild, large and small.” So God created human beings, making them to be like himself. He created them male and female.

God has always existed, and he always will. Jesus even said, “Before Abraham was, I AM.” (John 8:38) Not I was, but “I AM.” Think about that for a minute. Not He was there, but He IS there, right now, in the past. Jesus is in the past, right now. So that means He is in the future, right NOW. How do we explain that? Bible Scholars say it this way: God is OUTSIDE of time, looking town on it, and he can see all of it at the same time. It would be like looking down on your life and seeing you RIGHT NOW as a baby, you in this moment, you in high school, you getting married, you as a parent, and you as an old person... all right now, at the same time. Pretty crazy cool, huh? Can you see yourself as all those things at once? Well, God can!

MOVIE PROP: The Camera

In a movie, the light shines on where the action is! In a play, they might even use a spotlight to highlight the person who is speaking, singing or performing. The light points to where our attention needs to be. The Bible says that “God is Light.” God is where the action is. He is what we should be paying attention to. We should be going toward the Light – toward God. John chapter three says that the “Light came into the world,” referring to Jesus, but people preferred the dark (v.19) because they were doing bad things. It then goes on to say that if we live in truth, we come into the light (v.21) so that everyone can see what we do. The Apostle Paul tell us in Ephesians 5 to “walk as children of light.”

READ: 1 John 1:5 This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. God is making a blockbuster movie with your life as one chapter or scene in the huge story He is telling! Stay in the light so you don’t miss out on the action! Remember, history is HIS- STORY!
