Sunday's Video:

Director Gary Crant is interviewing actors for his next Big Bible Blockbuster movie! Who is it this week?
In this Bible Blockbuster lesson, we are learning about the BIG TEST that Abraham had to face. God had promised Abraham he would have children who would number like the stars of the sky! Like the sands of the shore! THEN, God asks the impossible, for Abraham to sacrifice his son.  How could God do BOTH? But Abraham never doubted, He figured if God wanted him to sacrificed his son, he would just have to raise him from the dead to keep his other promise! That's some amazing FAITH!
As soon as Abraham started to obey, God said "STOP - Now I know you trust me!" and He provided an animal for the sacrifice. And think about the faith of his son who went along with this test, trusting his dad. He must have also really believed that God was going to do something AMAZING!

Learn it - Live it!

This weeks Blockbuster Lesson:

Let’s learn another ATTRIBUTE OF GOD.
This week we are learning that our GOD is OMNIPOTENT – meaning God is ALL POWERFUL - IN CONTROL!
Here is a fun experiment you can do!
FUN ACTIVITY: GRAVITY-DEFYING WATER!

NEEDED:
  • Tall Clear Glass
  • Index Card
  • Marker
  • Pitcher of Water

PREPARATION: You’ll need a tall, clear drinking glass with a smooth top to it. Also, index cards that are wider than the top of the class. Lastly, you need a pitcher of water to fill the glass to the rim while presenting.

WHAT TO DO: Take the drinking glass and fill it with water. You can turn it upside down and NONE of the water will pour out! How is this impossible feat done? Wouldn't gravity pull the water down toward the earth? Of course, God made the law of gravity, so he can break it if He wants to! Get your index card and write GOD IS ALL POWERFUL on the index card. Place the card on the top of the glass and pick up the glass. Take your other hand and place it on the bottom. Move your first hand from the side of the glass to the top, completely covering the index card. Are you are ready to defy gravity? Flip the cup with your hands on the top and the bottom! Keep a firm grip on the bottom of the glass (which is now up top). Next, slowly remove your hand downwards from the top of the glass (which is facing downward). The index card will stick holding the water in!!

The reason is that since no air can get in, no water can get out – take a bow! You just DEFIED GRAVITY! (If you are really brave, pass the glass around!)

By the way, best to perform over a floor that you don’t mind getting wet.... JUST IN CASE!

THE POINT: It sounded impossible to turn a glass filled with water upside down and not have it spill all over the floor. But not only did God write the law of gravity, He also wrote the other scientific laws too!

READ: Matthew 19:26 But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” ESV

MOVIE PROP: The Props

Do you know what a LENS does? They capture the light, they can zoom in closer, they can improve quality. Movies are seen through the lens of the filmmaker. The lens determines if it will be bright or dim or colorful or close up or far away. You probably don’t think about the lens when you watch a movie, but the lens used has a huge impact on how you receive and experience the movie.

The same is true in life. There is an old saying that we all look at life through our own lens. What do you think this means? (Allow responses.) We have a way of looking at the world. Our beliefs and experiences impact how we see things. This is also called our “world view.” When you believe in God, and that He created all people, then you see people differently. You see all people the same – as worthy of love, respect and kindness regardless of how they look or even how the act. When you believe that God can forgive anyone, you are more forgiving, even to people who don’t deserve it. We all need to make sure our “God lens” is clear and in focus so that we see the world and the people in it and the story that God is telling from His perspective!
