Pastor Karl's Life Mission is to reach and teach boys and girls with the Good News of Jesus, and in the process to Enlist, Equip and Encourage others to do the same.
This has been my Calling since age ten, when I saw a children's evangelist at my church who communicated the Gospel in a way a hyper-active young boy could not only understand, but get excited about! I told my mom, "That's what I want to do when I grow up." Her answer? "Why wait until you grow up? You start next week!" And she had me in front of kids performing a magic trick and teaching lesson it illustrated... and I've been doing it ever since.
I've been a children's pastor since 1993 - when I had to suggest the title to a church because "Kid's Pastors" didn't exist at that time. I've served in small, medium and large churches - and even helped start a church from scratch. (We call that church planting.) I also launched the very first children's ministry website in 1994, before Google and YouTube even existed. Kidology.org is the site where thousands of kids ministry leaders and volunteers come for ideas, resources and training in kids ministry. I do ministry coaching through KarlBastian.club, host a podcast (the first kids ministry podcast and still going) - and most recently launched PastorKarl.com - a site dedicated to ministering directly to kids.

What's Next?

I've been in kids ministry now for over 40 years (started at age 10!) Every ministry I've lead has grown and reached kids for Jesus. My last church experienced significant growth - starting with under 50 kids and growing to hundreds over three services. Many of my local church leaders have gone on to become children's pastors. In addition to my personal ministry, Kidology is empowering and resourcing leaders all over the world - often for free - because the need it great. I've learned a few things over the years, and LOVE equipping and encouraging others to reach kids more effectively.
Now, my aim is to HELP SMALL CHURCHES GROW and develop children's ministries that will reach and teach the next generation of kids and kids ministry leaders.
I am currently volunteering at a small mobile church here in Colorado, while praying to expand my resource development and coaching of ministry leaders all over the world. (One of my students in Malaysia!) My resources are being used as far away as Africa, and while Kidology does benefit from the sale of resources and memberships here in the U.S., our entire staff, including myself - volunteer their time. The income we receive from sales and memberships just about cover our operating expenses - which are significant. Many of our resources and memberships we give free or at discount, never wanting cost to keep leaders from benefiting from the resources, coaching and materials they need to reach kids for Jesus.

Questions you may have...
- How will support funds be used?
- Primarily to support the ministry - cover ministry costs, and when possible, subsidize my income so I can serve smaller churches who can't afford what bigger churches can.
- I am shifting from a full-time ministry salary at a large church to part-time and support-based income. Life still costs the same, so I am praying God will raise up a support team to make this possible.
- What accountability is there for how funds are used?
- Kidology, as a non-profit, conducts an annual audit by an independent accounting firm. We have a board of directors who oversee the ministry and provide counsel and oversight of the ministry. Honestly, we are a small ministry facing significant financial challenges - all funds are used wisely and conscientiously because they are needed. We value your trust and use all resources to advance the Kingdom.
- What kind of resources does Kidology create?
- Are resources are very unique always solidly biblical and evangelistic - you can peruse our resources in the Kidology Store. Our focus is sharing the Gospel and helping kids know, and love God's Word.
