Sunday's Video:

Jacob learned an important lesson. God had a plan for his life. He was valuable to God even with the mistakes he had made. The same as true for you! Enjoy this short video made by my friend Nicki that talks about how valuable you are, even when you've messed up!

This weeks Power Up: HUMILITY

READ the Story of Jacob Wrestling with God in Genesis 32:22-32
Jacob was a cheater. He wanted what others have and was willing to cheat to get it. It cost him his relationship with family and hurt his relationship with God. Jacob needed some humbling if he was going to get back on track.
READ: James 4:10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.
Jacob ended up in a wrestling match with God. He ended up with a limp too. No one wrestles God and wins. We wrestle with God any time we are struggling to do what God wants us to do, and when we let our pride get in the way.
READ: I Corinthians 4:7 What is so special about you? What do you have that you were not given? And if it was given to you, how can you brag?
Everything we have, can do, or own is a gift from God. There is no room or place for pride. Humility is simply recognizing that simple fact, being thankful, and giving all the credit to God instead of wanting attention for ourselves. When we cheat or are prideful, God can’t use us, and we miss out on his blessing and rewards. But when we are humble, God will do so much more for us and through us!

THE GOOD NEWS for Jacob, was that God never gave up on him and was already ready and willing to give him a another chance whenever he was ready to do what was right. God will do the same for you and me!

GOD CONTROLLER:

REMOTE CONTROLLED BY GOD!
One of the most important buttons on your controller is the BACKWARDS button. So far, we’ve learned about the ATTACK button, the FORWARD button, the DUCK button, and even the RESET button, but one of the most neglected buttons in a game is the BACKWARDS button. Resetting is starting all over. Sometimes, that is all you can do. But most times, that is an over-reaction. Most of time, if things aren’t going well, you just need to stop, look around, and maybe take a few steps back. Maybe we overlooked something. Maybe there was something to pick up, someone to ask for help, or another path to take. If we go-go-go, it can eventually be too late to go back, because we’ve gotten too far away from the place where going back is still an option. Sometimes attacking isn’t the best choice. Sometimes we just need to say, “Whoa... hang on a sec, what did I miss?” and backtrack just a little to see if maybe there is a better choice before we end up somewhere we really don’t want to be.

The same is true in life. When things are going well or we are winning, pride can sneak in and we can end up making a mistake. No need to beat ourselves up, quit, rage, or blame others. Just be humble enough to admit it, back up, and try again a little smarter the next time.
