The Great Rescue!
JESUS, the First Responder!
In this series we are learning about how JESUS, the very First Responder came to Save us, Heal us, Equip us and Send us!

WEEK FOUR

Dads, Moms, Kids - use this page together to review or further explore what was learned at church, or if you weren't able to get to church today, then you can learn and live it out at home! After all, the Church is wherever you are! LET'S GO!
7-1-1 Bible Emergency?
When we have an EMERGENCY, we call 9-1-1, but who do Bible Characters call? They call 7-1-1. Listen in on these Bible Emergency Calls and see if you can figure out who called for help in the Bible!
This week we learned about how JESUS was dispatched to the Sky.

Before Jesus left and returned to heaven, He gave a VERY IMPORTANT Rescue Mission to each and every one of his disciples, and that includes YOU and ME!
READ: ACTS 1:6-11
Then they gathered around him and asked him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?”He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”
Things to point out from this passage:
• Jesus promised the Holy Spirit (we learned about that last week!)
• Jesus said we are to be His witnesses, meaning we are to tell what we saw and heard,
and what happened to us, as it relates to Jesus.
• We are to start in our hometown (Jerusalem), then neighboring areas, perhaps even
cross-culturally (Samaria) and then even far away (ends of the earth!) where people
have never heard of Jesus!
• Jesus is going to be coming again! (Get busy!)

SEEK - SHARE - SHINE!
Jesus is the BEST NEWS ever! When you hear good news, you want to share it! It might be a new toy, a new show or book, a deal at a store, a discount code, a new ride at an amusement park, or even a great joke you hear. When we hear something good, we share it!
Jesus is the best news in the history of the world! The SAVIOR of the world! For those of us who have meet Jesus and been saved from our sins, our job is to help spread the Good News of Jesus to those who have yet to hear the Good News!
How do we do this? I like to say we do this in three basic ways: SEEK – SHARE – SHINE! You can use the screen slides provided in your download.
SEEK – If we want to be used of God to rescue the lost, we need to decide that we want to be rescuers of the lost and start to seek the lost. Most people don’t even know that they are lost! They are just living their lives without Jesus and don’t realize that a lot of their problems and hardships are because they don’t have Jesus helping them to live the life God intended for them! Our job is to seek friendships with lost people so that we’ll have an opportunity to share Jesus with them!
READ: Matthew 9:37-38
Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
Then, we pray and look for opportunities to talk about Jesus or invite them to church so we can have a chance to share with them the Good News about Jesus! Sometimes, it is just talking about the difference Jesus has made in our own life that will get them interested. Once someone is curious about Jesus, it is our job to share with them how to accept Jesus as their Savior.

Let’s review the A – B – C’s
You can reuse the screen slides provided in your Lesson 1 download.
A= ADMIT you NEED to be rescued!
You know that you have sinned and need a Rescuer!
B= BELIEVE that Jesus came to rescue you from the consequences of sin by taking your place!
C= CALL on Jesus to save you! Make the Call! Simply ask Jesus to save you! It really is that easy!
READ: Romans 10:13-15
For, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” How, then, ca they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”
SHINE – Let’s review the A – B – C’s
We shine by showing people how Jesus has changed our life. When we live differently, we shine and show a better way to live. People will notice. They will ask why we live the way we do, and when they do, we share with them that Jesus is the reason we live the way we do. Jesus said we are to be a light to the world. That’s when we can share the Gospel, but if we really want people to come to Jesus we have to really shine, meaning, we need to point the way to Jesus but really living differently and making the Christian life attractive to those who don’t know Him. He is the Answer to the problems that people are facing.
READ: Matthew 5:16
In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
SEEKING and SHARING and SHINING are all done at the same time. It’s not that we have to seek and then share and then shine – sometimes we are shining and get to share. We should always be seeking who we can share with, but sometimes you won’t even realize that someone is watching your life and getting curious about Jesus.
Just as first responders are always “on call” for when the alarm goes off and they head out to an emergency, we too need to be READY and ON CALL to talk about Jesus whenever we get the chance!
READ: 1 Peter 3:15
But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.
Peter said that we need to “always be prepared” to share Jesus, but when we do so, to do it with gentleness and respect. No one likes a pushy person. Don’t expect someone to accept Jesus the first time they hear about Him. Just share Jesus and let them know you’d love to talk more about Him anytime they want. Ask them if you can pray for them as they seek to learn more. If you aren’t pushy, they’ll be more likely to want to talk to you about Jesus again.
Here are TWO resources you may want to provide to your kids to train them so they can be prepared to share the Gospel with their friends:
