HEY KIDS! WELCOME!

Welcome to BIG Bible Words!

During this series, you'll be learning some BIG WORDS from the Bible. Grown-Ups call them "THEOLOGY" words - Theology simply means "Theo" (God) "ology" (the study of) so.... THEO-OLOGY is just the Study of God. During this series you'll learn some BIG WORDS, but you'll also learn there are usually some little words that mean the same thing. As Pastor Karl says, "Grown up are big, so they like Big Words, but there are little words that mean the same thing," and make learning the Big Words easier!

WEEK FIVE

Can you UNSCRAMBLE this BIG WORD?

A.I.I.I.N.O.O.P.P.R.T.T.

Here's a HINT at what it means:

READY for the BIG WORD?

That’s a BIG WORD! “Propitiation!” (Can you say it?)
It’s a BIG WORD that means “Swap.”

When Jesus died on the cross, He swapped places with us. We deserved the punishment for our sin, but Jesus took it instead. He paid the price we couldn’t pay and gave us forgiveness we didn’t earn.

It’s like having a bill that’s way too big to ever pay — and someone steps in and pays it for you! That’s what Jesus did through propitiation. He took our place and gave us His perfect record in exchange.

Propitiation reminds us that Jesus didn’t just take away our punishment — He gave us His righteousness instead.
That’s the greatest swap in history!
Here are some Bible verses about PROPITIATION to look up and talk about:
Romans 3:25 – “God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of His blood—to be received by faith.”
➤ Jesus became our substitute, satisfying the penalty for sin.

1 John 2:2 – “He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.”
➤ Jesus didn’t just take our punishment — He paid for everyone’s sin.

1 John 4:10 – “This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.”
➤ Propitiation is the proof of God’s great love — Jesus took our place!
Propitiation = Jesus took our place and paid our debt
Summary:
We deserved the punishment for our sin, but Jesus swapped places with us! He took the penalty we owed and gave us His righteousness instead — the greatest trade ever made!
Challenge:
This week, remember the amazing love Jesus showed by taking your place. Be thankful every day that your debt has been paid in full!
Prayer:
“Lord Jesus, thank You for taking my place on the cross. I could never pay for my own sin, but You did it for me. Help me live with gratitude and share Your love with others. Amen.”

THE MAIN POINT:

So now that you know how Jesus TOOK OUR PLACE, something called PROPITIATION...  What should you DO about it?

1. Have you accepted Jesus as your Savior?

Everybody (that's means me and you) have sinned. And when you do something bad, as you know, there is a CONSEQUENCE! (You probably know that Big Word since Mom and Dad probably use it a lot. But it means you EARN something - and it's God's Punishment. But remember that GOOD NEWS?
John 1:12 - "Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God."

You can use THIS SIMPLE SONG to ask Jesus into your heart and life to save you from your TRANSGRESSIONS!

2. Tell someone else about JESUS!

If you asked Jesus to be your Savior - TODAY, or a long time ago - now it is YOUR JOB to tell others. They still have TRANSGRESSIONS that need to be forgiven. Start by PRAYING for them, and ask God to give you the courage to invite them to church and even to tell them about Jesus yourself!

Here is our THEME VERSE for this series...

See if you can memorize it!
