HEY KIDS! WELCOME!

Welcome to BIG Bible Words!

During this series, you'll be learning some BIG WORDS from the Bible. Grown-Ups call them "THEOLOGY" words - Theology simply means "Theo" (God) "ology" (the study of) so.... THEO-OLOGY is just the Study of God. During this series you'll learn some BIG WORDS, but you'll also learn there are usually some little words that mean the same thing. As Pastor Karl says, "Grown up are big, so they like Big Words, but there are little words that mean the same thing," and make learning the Big Words easier!

WEEK ONE

Can you UNSCRAMBLE this BIG WORD?

A-E-I-O-G-N-N-R-R-S-S-S-T

Here's a HINT at what it means:

READY for the BIG WORD?

That's a BIG WORD! "Transgression!" (Can you say it?)
It's a BIG WORD that simply means "SIN" - sin is anything we do that is disobeying God.
Notice there is an "i" in the middle of SiN. That reminds me that SIN is basically when I do what I want to do, instead of what God tells me to do.
SIN is simply disobeying our Creator and God!
Romans 3:23 tells us: “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
That means that we "failed the test." You could say we tried out for God's Team, and didn't make the cut. We weren't good enough.
That is the BAD NEWS - but there is GOOD NEWS, in fact, it's GREAT NEWS!
Romans 5:8 tells us: "While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
Think of it this way - you may have failed the test, or didn't make the team - but God says that you can pass (or join the team) based on how Jesus did on the team (or try out). And GUESS WHAT?? Jesus is perfect, so we get in based on HIS life, not our own!
Basically, JESUS TOOK OUR PLACE. That's why...
Romans 10:9 says, ""If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."
That's GOOD NEWS!
Did you know the word "Gospel" simply means, "Good News?" That's another big strange word that has a simple word that means the same thing. (What to be a smarty pants? The word Gospel is a GREEK WORD from
  • εὐ (eu) = “good”
  • ἀγγέλιον (angelion) = “message” or “news”
(related to angelos, meaning “messenger” or “angel”)
So, εὐαγγέλιον (euangelion), or GOSPEL -  basically means:

“Good news” or “Good message”

Tell that to a friend and they will think you are a scholar!

The TRUTH about SIN:

THE MAIN POINT:

So now that you know what TRANSGRESSION is... (do you remember?)
What should you DO about it?

1. Have you accepted Jesus as your Savior?

Everybody (that's means me and you) have sinned. And when you do something bad, as you know, there is a CONSEQUENCE! (You probably know that Big Word since Mom and Dad probably use it a lot. But it means you EARN something - and it's God's Punishment. But remember that GOOD NEWS?
John 1:12 - "Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God."

You can use THIS SIMPLE SONG to ask Jesus into your heart and life to save you from your TRANSGRESSIONS!

2. Tell someone else about JESUS!

If you asked Jesus to be your Savior - TODAY, or a long time ago - now it is YOUR JOB to tell others. They still have TRANSGRESSIONS that need to be forgiven. Start by PRAYING for them, and ask God to give you the courage to invite them to church and even to tell them about Jesus yourself!

Here is our THEME VERSE for this series...

See if you can memorize it!
