In this series we will be learning the skills to help God form us into all He created us to be!

WEEK SIX

Dads, Moms, Kids - use this page together to review or further explore what was learned at church, or if you weren't able to get to church today, then you can learn and live it out at home! After all, the Church is wherever you are! LET'S GO!

WATCH IT!

Here is the FUN video we watched in The Outpost!

Here was the MAIN POINT for this week:

God gave each of us gifts and talents, and He doesn't want us to waste them.

We all have different talents because it takes many talents to make Gods k\Kingdom what he wants it to be. For example, if we all had the talent to do music, it would be beautiful, the music would be great. However, where are you singing, I guess you can sing outside but it might be nice to have a building to sing in. Do you want someone gifted with teaching to build that building? Probably not! You'd want someone skilled with building to build, right?

An important person once said, “I will build the Lord his temple, the choir will fill it with music, the preacher will bring Gods Word, and the Lord will fill it with his Spirit.”

It takes all of us to make Gods Kingdom with all of our talents combined. God knows this. That’s why he has given us all different gifts and talents. Sometimes it may take a while to realize what talent we have, but it's there.

Sometimes we may even think we have one talent and then God revels another. Sometimes God’s plan requires us to learn a new talent. A pastor once said to me, God does not always call the equipped, He calls who He wants and then equips them.
So how do we know what our talent is? How do you know what Gods plan is for you? Sometimes prayer can help. Other times you might get an idea by reading Gods Word and discover it. Maybe it will revel itself as something you are passionate about, or just really enjoy doing.

There is no set formula. What I do know is God wants you to use your talents for Him. He wants you use them to grow His Kingdom. It’s a gift from God and he wants you to use your gifts and talents for good.

If he blessed you with the gift of love, then love the needy. If he blessed you with wisdom then teach. You may reach people you don’t even know. Be bold with your talents and glorify God in every action you use your talent for.

And just as important, encourage each others to use our talents as well!

Let me ask you, which talent do you think is more important? The ability to heal people or the ability to teach? Think about it? What do you think?

Or what about a gifted builder, is he more important than the person who is gifted with evangelism?

Here is the answer: NONE of them are any more important than the other!

James 1:17 says, "Every good and perfect gift is from above. Coming down from the Father." If God gave it you a gift, well, then I think it's pretty important. The important thing is to USE IT for God.

God gave you your gifts and talents to serve Him and to make a difference in the world!

SOME DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:

Use these questions to discuss the lesson together as a family:
  • Who is someone you think is super talented?
  • How do you think they could use their talent in the church, if they chose to?
  • What do you think is one of YOUR gifts or talents?
  • How could YOUR talents be used to serve God?
  • Tell someone else in the family what you think THEY are gifted at and how you think they could use their gifts to serve God.
  • Have you volunteered at church? If so, talk about it and why you helped the way you did, or do.
    • If you haven't yet, how would you like to volunteer or even work at a church someday? Mayb you need to get older, that's fine. But how do you see yourself using your gifts and talents to serve God?
  • Is there a talent you'd like to develop more? What is it and why?
  • Finally, give each person in your family a compliment about what they are good at!

SOME VERSES TO LOOK UP TOGETHER:

Look these verses up and discuss together as a family:
